Chikwawa, June 12, 2016: Minister of Information, Patricia Kaliati on Saturday reiterated government’s commitment to protecting people with albinism.
The minister was speaking during a graduation ceremony of form four students of Hope Christian Boarding school at Konzerein Chikwawa.

Minister Patricia Kaliati said government will not take lightly any acts of violence perpetrated on albinos as they had rights as any Malawian.
“Even when you are in a bus and you hear a scathing remark being made against an albino, when you reach a road block stop that bus and report that person to police so that the person will be dealt with there and then,” She explained.
In that vein the minister said government was reviewing all past cases where people were given light sentences so that they get the punishment due to them.
On education the minister warned students who are about to sit for Malawi School Certificate of Education to make final preparations so that no one will be caught cheating.
“We don’t want to hear of any person caught cheating for doing so puts the credibility of education in disrepute, work extra hard whilst you still have the time to do so,” advised the Minister.
Hope Christian Boarding school is owned by Pastor Lypson Mbewe and it caters for orphans and vulnerable children.
