ZOMBA-(MaraviPost)-Tonse alliance presidential candidate Dr. Lazarus Chakwera on Saturday, May 30, 2020 urged Malawians to work together in restructuring its state of affairs for the better.

Addressing thousands of Malawians at Namadidi ground in Zomba Changalume Constituency, Dr. Chakwera who is also Malawi Congress Party (MCP) leader appealed to Malawians desisting from act of political violence citing Friday’s incidences in Phalombe, Liwonde and also Saturday’s Mponela fracas.

The MCP leader condemned the acts be stopped forthwith regardless of who is being attacked or targeted.

The uniting remarks from Dr. Chakwera comes barely hours after President Peter Mutharika through the national state broadcaster MBC TV and radio stations on spate of political violence ahead of the fresh presidential election.

Chakwera who looked calm and composed with a message of restructuring the country assured people of Zomba Changalume that him and Chilima will intensify farming in the area and the whole nation by reducing the fertilizer prices and improve the fish farming using lake Chirwa.

On health Tonse alliance presidential candidate has promised five new health centers and to upgrade Domasi health center to a hospital.

On education Tonse alliance through its president has assured people of Zomba that new schools will be built with all the needed learning materials available. Dr. Chakwera then promised a 10 stall hostel at the Chancellor College to ease the problem being faced by students currently.

On roads the Tonse alliance torchbearer promised to upgrade many roads in Zomba including the rural roads, saying Malawi must be developed everywhere whether in the remotest areas or in urban.

He further promised 1 million jobs in the first year of Tonse regime with national youth service in place so that every skill of the youths is fully utilized.

The MCP leader added that with Tonse government will to create good business environment for both big companies as well as Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) to make sure people operate businesses in favorable atmosphere and inturn offer employment to the youths of whom many are currently jobless.

On his part Dr. Saulos Chilima, Tonse runningmate and Malawi Vice president Dr. Saulos Chilima encouraged supporters to be strong and not get discouraged by the acts of violence orchestrated by the Democratic Progress Party (DPP).

Dr. Chilima advised Malawians not to castigate, demean the judges for their ruling in the election case of 2019, saying judgement was passed and fresh election is coming soon.

He therefore reminded the gathering that some Malawians already fought for freedom of the country hence no need for fights.

The Malawi VP with no fear criticised Bakili Muluzi who led Malawi from one party era for ordering Mr. Mtenje to kill him(Chilima) in Mangochi on political grounds, saying his life is in the hands of the Lord and he fears him (Bakili) not.

Chilima therefore told the nation that a paper work is being finalised to ICC complaining on the same.

Dr. Chilima hinted on what he called the staged Covid-19’s cases plans by the DPP to block the fresh presidential election.

During the rally at Namadidi, Dr. Joyce Banda who is the former head of state urged Malawians to refrain from indulging in violence and concentrate on rebuilding the nation through the Chakwera-Chilima presidency.

Zomba registered 319,294 voters ahead of the 2019 nullified presidential election.
