BLANTYRE-(MaraviPost)—Fresh presidential election has pressured President Peter Mutharika to fulfill his campaign promises to the two football powerhouses in the country, Nyasa Big Bullets and Mighty Be Forward Wanderers.
In the run up to 2019 tripartite elections, Mutharika promised to construct two state-of-the-art stadia for Wanderers and Bullets after the realizing that the two giants were homeless despite entertaining the football lovers in the country for decades.
The Ministry of Youth, Sports and Culture says construction of Nyasa Big Bullets and Be Forward Wanderers will take a period of two years to be completed.
In a statement released Tuesday, President Peter Mutharika will grace the launch of commencement of construction of the stadia on Thursday.
“This grand launch shall be presided over by the State President Peter Mutharika. After unveiling of the plaques at the two construction sites, the State President will proceed to Nyambadwe Ground where he will launch the commencement of the construction works expected to be completed within 104 weeks,” reads part of the statement.
“Government realises that sports in particular football, offers good entertainment to the general public, unifies people, promotes good health and is capable of generating revenue for individual players, government as well as other stakeholders.”
Bullets Stadium will be constructed at Zingwangwa Ground whereas Wanderers Stadium will be at Soche in Blantyre.
