Prophet Bushiri, wife Mary back into Malawi court on unconditional release appeal case

LILONGWE-(MaraviPost)-The High Court in the capital Lilongwe is today expected to start hearing a case in which state prosecutors are challenging the unconditional release of Shepherd Bushiri and his wife Mary.

The fugitive couple jumped bail in South Africa and fled to Malawi, arguing their lives were in danger.

They are facing charges of money laundering and fraud and authorities there issued a warrant of arrest through Interpol.

Principal Resident Magistrate Viva Nyimba on November 19, 2020 ordered the release of Prophet Shepherd Bushiri and his wife Mary who were arrested based on South Africa’s provisional request to detain him pending formal request for extradition.
