The former Justice and Constitutional Affairs minister Ralph Kasambara is reportedly admitted at Adventist Hospital in Blantyre for a heart-ailment whose condition remains critical but stable.
According the Maravi Post unimpeachable sources privy to the developments, Kasambara health condition deteriorated on Wednesday night, September 23 after he was flown back into Maula Prison. He was then transferred to Zomba Maximum Prison upon Judge Michael Mtambo’s revocation of his bail on conspiracy charges to murder t former budget director Paul Mphwiyo in 2013.
Judge Mtambo revoked his bail based evidence that Kasambara infringed on the privacy of the judge which was contrary to his bail conditions.
On Friday, September 25, Kasambara condition worsened which led prison authorities at Zomba evacuating him to Mwaiwanthu Hospital but was later referred to Adventist Hospital in Blantyre where is reportedly in the Intensive Care Unit for a heart-ailment as his condition remains critical but stable under police guard.
This is the second time for the former Attorney General to suffer serious ailment after an arrest as he suffered the same condition during the DPP regime under the late President Bingu WA Muntharika when Kasambara accused Bingu of dictatorial tendencies who needed to be impeached.
Meanwhile Kasambara has appealed for a stay on the bail revocation while his co-accused Macdonald Kumwembe has also appealed against the contempt of court sentence and the conviction for four months which he is currently serving.
