The man identified as Arafat Ikimu alias Rashid Koweh Bin Omar was arrested by Serious Crimes detectives of the Directorate of Criminal Investigations.

NAIROBI-(MaraviPost)-Detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) arrested 32-year old Arafat Ikimu alias Rashid Koweh Bin Omar who has been impersonating a Sudanese Army General.

The DCI confirmed the news on their official Twitter page on Saturday September 12.

In the statement, DCI said the suspect has been targeting unsuspecting high ranking females within the country and lured them into non-existent deals thereby defrauding them millions of shillings.

DCI added that the recent case involves a female director who lost Kshs. 8M to the suspect.

Arafat Ikimu alias Rashid Koweh Bin Omar was arrested in Westlands, Nairobi County pending arraignment and he will be charged with impersonation and Obtaining by False Pretences.

In Kenya, cases of impersonation have been persistent in recent months. Earlier in September, two DCI imposters were apprehended when they summoned a member of the National Assembly under the pretense that they served at the police service.

In a separate incident, five people acting as Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) and National Intelligence Service (NIS) officers were nabbed by sleuths.

On Thursday 3 September 2020, DCI recovered Fake Identifications Cards and a handcuff believed to be used by the five suspects accused of terrorising the public with their activities mainly focused on the Nairobi Central Business District (CBD).
