BLANTYRE (MaraPost)–Former minister and Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) Director of Women Affairs and her husband, Angie have unofficially won parliamentary seats in southern district of Mulanje

The former minister has retained her Mulanje West Parliamentary seat while Mulanje Pansani constituents have given Patricia’s husband mandate to represent them in Parliament. Both stood on DPP ticket.

Effort to get hold of Patricia and her husband proved futile as their mobile numbers could not be reached.

But it is a different, if not bad news for People’s Party (PP) Vice President for Southern Region Brown James Mpinganjira, his ex-wife and their son, Chipiliro- they have all lost.

The PP vice president lost to DPP Director of Elections Kondwani Nankhumwa.

Nankhumwa got 9,995 votes, followed by United Democratic Front’s Ruth Lemani and Mpinganjira who got 5,855 and 3,976 votes respectively.

Reports indicate that Mpinganjira, widely known as BJ, is disputing the results, calling the Malawi Electoral Commission to nullify the results.

He said to have penned the Commission on a number of irregularities and shortcomings with the parliamentary race in Mulanje Central Constituency.

Meanwhile, MEC announced that it has received over 130 complaints in relation to the 2014 tripartite elections.
