LILONGWE-(MaraviPost)-President Lazarus Chakwera has pledged to scale up development initiatives, including increasing the Constituency Development Fund (CDF) from MK200 million to MK500 million, if re-elected in the September 16 General Elections.

Addressing supporters during a whistle-stop in Salima at Siyasiya Trading Centre in Senior Chief Khombedza’s area on Wednesday, Chakwera said his administration has laid a strong foundation for progress despite setbacks caused by drought, COVID-19, cholera outbreaks, and climate change.

“We have increased Social Cash Transfer beneficiaries in Salima to 11,000, rehabilitated the M5 road, and advanced irrigation farming through NEEF. These are seeds we have planted; now is the time to harvest,” Chakwera said.

Senior Chief Khombedza commended the government for projects such as the Mnema maternity wing, serving 20,000 people, and the elevation of Sub-Traditional Authority Chotaika under him.

Aspiring Member of Parliament for Salima Central West, Jessie Kabwira, promised further progress through infrastructure projects, including bridges and school blocks.

The rally, part of Chakwera’s intensified campaign following engagements in the Northern Region, drew hundreds of enthusiastic supporters, with party officials stressing the need to elect leaders who can deliver tangible results.
