BLANTYRE-(MaraviPost)-A Truck carrying bags of maize meant for Cyclone Freddy survivors on Tuesday, March 29, 2023 was involved in a road accident at Mbanira along the Nayuchi road in Machinga.
The truck was allegedly diverted last week by Councilor for Mlomba ward, Alexander Cosmos.
Machinga district council spokesperson, Martin Chiwanda confirmed of the incident adding were at the scene together with police to secure the maize and no injuries or deaths have been reported.
The 30 toner truck that was being driven by Stanley Banda, 41, was heading to Nayuchi to deliver maize to #CycloneFreddy survivors, after it was released by Liwonde police.
According to eye witness, the accident happened after the driver failed to negotiate a bend on the road causing it to overturn.
