CHICAGO-(MaraviPost)-The federal court in Chicago found the US R&B singer R. Kelly guilty of child pornography and coercing minors into criminal sexual activities after he was slapped with a 30-year prison sentence few months ago.

This comes after a five-week trial in a U.S. District Court in Chicago by a jury on six out of 13 counts.

Disgraced R. Kelly likely to add decade more to 30-year sentence after found guilty of child pornography

The fallen R&B star whose full name is Robert Sylvester Kelly, who was also facing charges of conspiracy to obstruct justice was found guilty of three counts of sexual exploitation of a child via production of child pornography and three counts of coercion and enticement.

He was however acquitted of seven other charges, including obstruction of justice, and conspiracy to receive child pornography, Guardian reported.

The singer/songwriter’s former associates, Derrel McDavid and Milton Brown, who were accused of trying to purchase back Kelly’s sex tapes and conceal sexual abuse were acquitted of the charges against them.

In June, Kelly was sentenced to 30 years in federal prison, after a jury found him guilty of racketeering and sex trafficking, during a six-week trial in 2021.

The ‘I Believe I Can Fly’ hit maker was first accused of sexual misconduct with underage girls in the 1990s following his 1994 marriage with the R&B star Aaliyah, who was just 15 years old at the time after revelations that Kelly began sexually abusing her when she was 13 years old.

He was indicted on child pornography charges in 2002 before he was acquitted in 2008.

The latest charges attract a mandatory minimum sentence of 10 years which will likely add up to the already long 30-years sentence the singer is currently serving.
