BLANTYRE-(MaraviPost)-First Capital Bank plc has come to the rescue of 65 students who were at risk of withdraw from studies on financial grounds at Malawi University of Business and Applied Sciences (MUBAS).
The symbolic hand over of the cheque took place at MUBAS cumpus in Blantyre on Thursday, 21 January 21, 2022.
The bank has pumped in over MK8million for the initiative.
Speaking at the event FMB deputy chief executive officer Ms Agness Jazza stated that as a bank they believe that quality education is the only way of developing competitive human capital which is key in creating a thriving economy hence the donation.J
azza also promised that FCB will take on board outstanding students through their graduate trainee program.
She further urged MUBAS students to open up bank accounts with FCB.
In her remarks vice Chancellor for MUBAS associate professor Dr Nancy Chitera, applauded the bank for their kind gesture.
Dr Chitera further said that after the release of students results some weeks back, the beneficiary’s were not going to be allowed to access their results due to non payment of tuition fee as per college’s regulations.
And the students were supposed to stay at home for one academic year and to come back next year to continue their studies.
MUBAS students representative council were represented by Noah Chadza and Peter Nkhata at the event.
