Former Malawi Presidents Mutharika, JB to reward Flames for AFCON 2021 exceptional performance

LILONGWE-(MaraviPost)-Malawi’s former Heads of State Peter Mutharika and Joyce Banda have expressed their joy with how the country’s National Football Team, The Flames is performing at 2021 TotalEnergies Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Cameroon.

On his part Mutharika has said he is optimistic The Flames will beat Morocco in the round of 16 and proceed to round of 8.

Mutharika also promised to give the players a little something once they return from the AFCON tournament saying they have made the country proud.

Banda, urged stakeholders and the private sector to continue supporting the country’s National Football to inspire them to work hard.

The Flames have made it to the knockout stage following the results from Group D which saw Nigeria and Egypt qualifying as the pool’s leaders and runners-up, respectively.

Malawi will face Morocco on Tuesday, January 25, 2022.
