Intrigue surrounds the death of ACB official Issa Njauju in Malawi

1 Min Read

Malawi Police have launched investigations into the mysterious death of Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) Director of Corporate Services Issa Njauju whose body was found two days after he had gone missing in the capital Lilongwe.

The body of Issa Njauju was found near the Malawi statehouse in Lilongwe. The body was found by sand miners.

Civil society icons like Billy Mayaya are questioning why the police seem to jump to a conclusion as to the cause of death very quickly.

“I am surprised that already conclusions have been drawn about the number of bullets on a charred body prior to a thorough autopsy by a competent professional. Additionally why would killers burn a body and car near the Presidential villas unless it’s an extrajudicial killing?” questions Billy Mayaya on his Facebook page.

It is said that his official car believed to be a Toyota Helux, was found burnt to ashes in another part of the capital Lilongwe, however there is no way anyone can identify this vehicle as the one driven by the deceased and people suspicious of the actual causes of death believe the car is a hoax to confuse investigators.

It must be difficult to be an ACB officials at the moment not knowing why he was killed? There are hints that the deceased was working on a sensitive case and that might be the reason he was killed.

We have reached out to Egrita Ndala the spokesperson for ACB for any comment on the matter and as we went to press no word yet.
