Lawyer Frank Mbeta’s success displeases others as Judge Kenyatta Nyirenda falls victim

BLANTYRE (Maravi Post)—Private Practice lawyer Frank Mbeta’s remarkable success story in the legal profession especially after winning the cases involving Maranatha Girls Academy and Oil and Protein Company Limited appears to have not pleased some quarters.

Mbeta is reported to have had both the Maranatha Girls Academy and the Oil and Protein Company Limited cases heard by Judge Kenyatta Nyirenda and this has raised peoples’ eyebrows.

But our investigations in the issue reveals there is nothing bordering on malpractice in these cases.

When asked about these reports one high profile lawyer commented: “It’s impossible to ‘shop’ judges because case assignment in the judiciary is done through a randomized selection system.”

Our investigations also show that Mbeta has handled several cases before judges other than Kenyatta Nyirenda and has emerged successful.

“Why singling out these two cases and not the many other cases he has been appearing before other judge(s) and ended up winning? If this is not Jealous, then the word ‘Jealous’ has no meaning,” he added.

Another lawyer our investigators talked to stated that Mbeta cannot be a proper subject of the alleged Anti-Corruption Bureau’s following because, given the facts, he handled these cases with the professionalism expected of a legal practitioner.

Sadly, the anti-Mbeta campaign has seen cerebrated Judge Kenyatta Nyirenda fall victim.

Judge Kenyatta Nyirenda—the celebrated judge who ruled on the historic elections case—is being accused of being a party to these unfounded imputations of malpractice by the agents of the disgruntled quarters.

Frank Mbetais one of the fast-rising private practice lawyers others being Wapona Kita, Khumbo Soko, JivasonKadzipatike and Luciano Mickeus.
