DEDZA-(MaraviPost)-A 54 year old man has killed himself on concerns over a long illness in Dedza district.

According to Dedza police deputy spokesperson constable Cassim Manda the deceased has been identified as Chaima Phiri of Chijani Village, Traditional Authority (T.A) Lukwa in Kasungu district and was found dead in his bedroom .

Manda said what happened was that on 28th January this year,  Phiri’s wife, Flora left home to fetch a piece work within Dedza township.

“When she came back at dusk, she did not find her husband on his sick bed only to find him self hanging to a piece of a mosquito net,” said Manda.

Police no foul play is suspected.

Police investigations indicate that Phiri had been complaining of the illness, a thing police suspect might have driven him to commit suicide.

A postmortem result indicates that Phiri died due to suffocation.
