MEC

Malawi Electoral Commission (MEC) acting Chief Elections Officer, Thandie Mkovole on Wednesday, died after she collapsed at work, Maravi Post has learned.

Confirming the development, MEC spokesperson Sangwani Mwafulirwa said this happened around 3 pm at MEC Head Office (Chisankho House) in Blantyre.
“It is true, Mkovole has passed away. This happened after she collapsed today around 3 pm,” said Mwafulirwa.
According to Mwafulirwa, Mkovole was just fine since the morning when she reported for her duties in the morning.
“After she collapsed, Mkovole was taken to Mwaiwathu Private Hospital, where it was pronounced that she had died,” he disclosed.
The MEC spokesperson described Mkovole as a hard working person.
Mkovole has been acting elections officer after the suspension last year of Willie Kalonga over his involvement in cash gate.
