BLANTYRE (MaraPost)–With 26 days to go before the May 20 polls, the Malawi Electoral Commission (MEC) has organised national inter-denominational prayers for the first ever tripartite elections.
The prayers will be held on April 30 at the Chichiri International Conference Cenyre (Comesa Hall) under the theme “Free, Fair and Peaceful Elections: Is Anything Too Hard for the Lord (Genesis 18 vs 14A”.
The aim of the prayers is to pray for peace in our country as we head to the polls on May 20, 2014,”says Willie Kalonga, MEC Chief Elections Officer.
The prayers will be led by leaders of various faiths and religions and have been organised in conjunction with the Malawi Council of Churches, the Episcopal Conference of Malawi, the Muslim Association of Malawi, the Quadria Muslim Association of Malawi, the Evangelical Association of Malawi, Malawi Union of the Seventh Day Adventist and the Pentecostal Churches.
Invited guests include all Presidential, Parliamentary and Local Government Elections candidates, political parties, religious leaders, government officials, development partners, civil society organisations and all electoral stakeholders, among others
