Malawi Musician turned politician Lucius Banda to release 18th album

Blantyre, July 25, 2014: Legendary musician Lucius Banda has said he is in the studio working on his 18th Album titled ‘Thank you’.

The self proclaimed ‘soldier of the poor’ told the Malawi News Agency (Mana) that he plans to release a 13 track album by November, 2014.

“I can confirm that I am currently working on my 18th album titled ‘Thank you’ which I am planning to release by November, this year,” confirmed Banda.

The musician said he chose to name the album ‘Thank you’ because he feels there are so many things that Malawi as a nation has to be thankful of and him as an individual as well.

“I have a lot of things to be thankful of for example my resurrection in politics as you might be aware I won parliamentary elections in Balaka.

“As a nation there are so many things we as Malawians ought to be thankful for. We have to thank God for a peaceful nation, we recently had the first ever tripartite elections but there was no bloodshed, we are celebrating 50 years of independence but we have never been at war,” explained the artist.

He also said the album will have a lot of gospel and love songs saying: “There are going to be a lot of gospel and love related tracks in this album and I plan to feature a local and international gospel musician in one or two songs but I cannot disclose their names now.”

Lucius also revealed that he is planning a double release of both audio and DVD tracks. According to the soldier of the poor the album is being record at TAPS Bandawe’s studio.

“Most of the songs will be recorded at TAP’s studio but 1 or 2 tracks will be done in South Africa,” he explained.

Some of his previous titles on his 17 album shelf include ‘Son of a poor man’ which came out in 1995, ‘Cease fire’ released in 1997, ‘Take over’ in 1998, ‘Jah’ in 2000, ‘Enemy of the State’ in 2005, ‘Survivor’ in 2006 and ‘Fifteen Fifteen’(15/15) in 2009 among many others.
