MZUZU (MaraviPost) — Scores of Malawian offers are expected to feel the pinch of the departure of outgoing European Union (EU) ambassador to Malawi, Alexander Baum, whose commitment towards helping orphans and vulnerable children in Malawi outstanding.
Baum has ended his tour of duty in Malawi and is heading to Botswana where he will also be EU representative in the country.
But of the many who will miss him, probably chief of them will be orphans which Baum’s delegation has been supporting for the last three years.
Children and staff from Village of Hope, which Baum’s delegation has been supporting, were part of the team that attended the function of Baum’s farewell in Malawi’s capital Lilongwe.
“We’re happy to make a contribution to the children of Malawi who are less privileged,” said Baum. “We hope they will become strong members of the society.”
Baum’s children made a cash donation of K75 000 on the day.
