Malawi political figures and Family welcome James Nyondo’s remains

Lilongwe, July 24, 2015: Cabinet ministers, party officials, the speaker of Parliament and other dignitaries, Thursday welcomed the body of the late James Mbowe Nyondo who died in South Africa after suffering from Lung cancer.

 

The body which arrived through Lilongwe International Airport was taken to Area 47 sector 5 residence where it will lay pending burial on Friday at Area 18 Cemetery.

 

The Ministers, Atupele Muluzi of Home affairs and internal Security, Kondwani Nankhumwa of Information, Tourism and Culture including Speaker Richard Msowoya, former Vice President Khumbo Kachale and DPP Secretary General Ecklen Kudontoni were among those who escorted Nyondos body to his area  47 residence.

 

According to the program made available to Mana, the body will on Friday at 9:30am be taken to Area 47 Church of Christ near Chigoneka CDSS for a funeral service and viewing before being taken for burial.

 

Nyondo died on July 17 at Steve Biko Clinic, Johannesburg in South Africa.

 

He was until his death President of the National Salvation Front (NASAF) which he founded and participated in two Presidential elections.

 

He is survived by wife and three children.
