James Nyondo laid to rest, leaves behind a patriotic legacy to the Malawi nation

The remains of James Nyondo who until his death was the president of National Salvation Front (NASAF) were led to rest in the afternoon, Friday, July 24, 2015 at Area 18 cemetery in the capital Lilongwe as hundreds of Malawians mourned him leaving behind a patriotic legacy.

 James Nyondo who passed away the night of July 17, 2015 at Stephen Bico clinic in Republic of South Africa (RSA), his body arrived on Thursday, July 23, 2014 through Kamuzu International Airport in the Capital Lilongwe.

 

The main opposition Malawi Congress Party (MCP), Dr. Lazarus Chakwera, Information Minister Kondwani Nankhumwa, Former Vice President Khumbo Kachali, Mark Katsonga Phiri PPM President, and PETRA President Kamuzu Chiwembe were some of prominent politicians who led Malawians in burying Nyondo.

MCP President Dr Chakwera eulogy emphasized the need for Malawians to emulate the late Nyondo’s patriotic spirit to the nation saying he was a rare political genius who contributed positively to the country’s democracy.

On his part, Information Minister Nankhumba said government was also saddened with Nyondo’s death in changing the political landscape of the nation which will be missed.

The late Nyondo’s daughter Pamela said her father was a kind and prayerful man who always advice the entire family relying on God.

“He always taught us to pray in all our endeavors and encouraging us to love each other such that we are to miss him so much”, said Nyondo’s daughter Pamela.

The leadership of the Party handed over NASAF flag to Nyondo’s widow Lucani as on way of honoring her for the love and care shown to the party’s leader.

Nyondo who hailed from the northern district of Chitipa, died of lung cancer on the night of July 17, 2015 at Stephen Bico clinic in Republic of South Africa (RSA) and was 47, survived by a wife and three children, two sons and a daughter.
