BLANTYRE-(MaraviPost)—The Judicial Service Commission has disclosed that it has not yet received communication on the resignation of the MEC Chairperson Dr. Jane Ansah to meet and nominate her replacement.
This has been confirmed by the Registrar of the High Court and the Supreme Court of Appeal Agness Patemba.
In an interview with Zodiak, Patemba said it’s either MEC itself or the Office of the President and Cabinet-OPC that are supposed to notify the judiciary about the development.
Patemba, however, assured that once they receive the notification, they will handle the matter with the urgency it deserves.
Ansah, on Thursday, May 21, 2020 finally resigned from her position after several attempts by the Human Rights Defenders Coalition (HRDC) to force her to leave office for mismanaging 2019 presidential poll.
Speaking in an exclusive interview with the state broadcaster MBC, Ansah said she had written President Mutharika of her intention to step down.
She said she leaves the MEC with a clear conscious and convinced that she had done a good job.
Malawi President Peter Mutharika on Friday, May 22, 2020 accepted her resignation letter.
