BLANTYRE(MaraviPost)—After displaying splendid performance at the 2014 Glasgow Commonwealth Games in Scotland, the Malawi Queens have been invited by Jamaica and England for a series of friendly games.
Netball Association of Malawi (NAM) General Secretary Carol Bapu confirmed the development and said the friendly games would help the Queens to tune up for World Championship next year.
“We have been invited by England and Jamaica for a series of friendly games. We are happy to have been invited by such great teams because it shows that they have confidence in us that we can give them a good test,” said Bapu.
She said games in England were set for December but Jamaica is yet to fix the dates for the games.
The Queens performed well at the 2014 Glasgow Commonwealth games held in Scotland where they maintained fifth position on world rankings and the 1st position in Africa after beating continental rivals South Africa 53-45.
They beat Northern Ireland, St Lucia and hosts Scotland but lost to New Zealand and Jamaica in the Pool A group matches.
