BLANTYRE (Maravipost)–Flames forward Frank G’abadinho’ Mhango is optimistic of winning this season’s PSL top scorer award in South Africa despite his slump in form.
The former Big Bullets player has told RSA’s Kickoff Magazine that he determined to win the Golden Boot award this season after missing it by a whisker last season when it went to Kaizer Chiefs’ Bernard Parker.
According to Kickoff Magazine, Gabadinho has scored a single goal out of seven competitive (including one cup game) matches for his club Bloemfontein Celtic this season.
“On the pitch, all I ever think about is banging goals. I will definitely score more than nine goals this season.
“It is up to God to decide how many goals I will score, but I am definitely aiming to improve on my scoring record. Actually this season, I am aiming to be the PSL top goalscorer because as a striker, the most important aspect of my game is to score goals,” Gabadinho is quoted as saying.
He said there are still many games to play and that he will meet his target.
“When you believe in God, everything is possible.”
The current joint leading scorers are Moroka Swallows’ Lerato Chabangu and Kaizer Chiefs’ Reneilwe Letsholonyane with four goals apiece.
.
Gabadinho’s club Bloemfontein Celtic is currently 11th in the 16-team league with six points from six games.
His compatriot Atusaye Nyondo who turns out for University of Pretoria has scored two goals.
