LILONGWE-(MaraviPost)-A 23-year-old woman from Traditional Authority (T.A) Mponda in Mangochi, Ida Chiwalo has died in Oman where she went four months ago seeking job opportunities.
Chiwalo’s uncle, Alifie Issa says Chiwalo went to South Africa to work where she proceeded to Oman.
Foreign Affairs Ministry has also confirmed the death of Chiwalo but details of death causes remain sketchy.
Meanwhile, Ministry of Labour spokesperson Lilly Kampani told Zodiak Online that this month-end they will start repatriating about 60 women and girls and trapped in Oman.
But Center for Democracy and Economic Initiatives (CDEDI) Executive Director Silvester Namiwa, has faulted the government for being slow in repatriating the victims, saying many lives might be lost in the process.
