Chikumbutso Banda in agony at the Kasungu District Hospital
BLANTYRE-(MaraviPost)—As cases of violence against men in Malawi are increasing exponentially, a Kasungu based man is in great pain at the district hospital after his wife allegedly poured hot porridge in the face over a land issue.
The man identified as Chikumbutso Banda, aged 40, claims the wife scalded him with the porridge while he was sleeping yesterday.
The wife, Falesi Mwale, is reportedly on the run.
In 2019 Malawi Police expressed satisfaction with the rise in the number of men reporting abuses against them by their spouses.
The police said most men feel shy to report such cases to the police because in our culture people believe that if a woman beats up his husband it shows he is not man enough.
The police introduced a sensitization campaign to educate the nation on the importance of reporting such cases and now people are coming to report whenever men are mistreated by their loved ones.
