Msaka positions to take over DPP

By Nenenji Mlangeni

MANGOCHI-(MaraviPost)-Battle for supremacy! Former ruling Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) Vice President for Eastern Region Bright Msaka has started maneuvering to grab the DPP presidency and represent the party during the 2025 elections by getting support from party President Peter Mutharika whom he visited on Wednesday in Mangochi.

Mutharika also confirmed about the meeting in his facebook post which he also posted Msaka’s picture.

“Good morning Malawians and all the Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) supporters across the world. This is to let you know that I had an audience with DPP leadership from the Eastern region, parliamentarians from the region as well as some members of the NGC at my Villas in Mangochi on Wednesday. The delegation was led by Dr. Bright Msaka, SC who is the Vice President for the DPP in Eastern region.”

“I have good news to you all the DPP followers; I will never leave you and I will always fight with you till the end. Come next election, DPP will be bouncing back into government and I will render all my support to make sure this is achieved as we did between 2012 to 2014.”

“Malawians have already seen that their much touted change has not brought them the change they were looking for. I therefore call upon all DPP supporters to remain strong and vigilant, united and principled so that we achieve this together,” reads Mutharika’s post.

Insiders said Msaka who accompanied a group of about 30 people to Mutharika’s unfinished Villas is canvassing support to take over the party.

“He brought Mutharika three goats and a game of Bao,” said one the people who attended the meeting.

The entourage was surprised when Former First Lady, Mrs. Gertrude Mutharika gave everyone cash amounting to MK800,000 each. This means Mrs. Mutharika spent a whooping MK24 million on the entourage.

“This tells you that Msaka is playing his cards well,” said another DPP guru who attended the meeting.
