MCHINJI-(MaraviPost)-The country’s Home of Hope orphanage in the central boarder district of Mchinji where American Pop Star Madonna adopted Malawian child David Banda is in dire need of financial support to complete construction of girls’ hostels.
The orphanage is failing to finalize the project of building girls’ hostels, vocation college and teachers’ houses which it started in 2004 due to financial problems.
The orphanage has since arranged a medal to be given to anyone who will assist it in the project which is being sold on auction at the orphanage.
The orphanage’s ambassador Simon Kalombe told The Daily Times that they need well-wishers with financial support to finish the project.
Ambassador Kalombe expressed sadness over failure to complete the projects for several years due to financial challenges.
“The orphanage is in dire need of financial resources to finalise the projects. If only people of goodwill can come in and assist, the livelihood of orphans at the facility will be greatly improved.
“The orphanage’s founding director, Todson Chipeta gave me documents containing information about projects that are financially challenged. We are therefore appealing to well-wishers to come forward with any material or financial support so that we can finalise the project”, urges Chipeta.
Chipeta was non-committal as to whether his institution approached Madonna on the same appeal considering the popstar’s connection with the orphanage.
