MCHINJI-(MaraviPost)-Senior Group Village Headman Puwele of Mchinji District has commended renowned gospel musician Davie Nkhoma, popularly known as Dazik, for constructing a girls’ hostel valued at K15 million at Tiyamika Orphanage.
The chief described the initiative as a timely intervention, noting that inadequate shelter has been one of the major challenges facing the orphanage.
He said Dazik’s contribution is a “game changer” that will greatly improve the welfare of the girls.
Speaking during the hostel handover ceremony held on Thursday, Dazik said his calling as a gospel artist goes beyond preaching through music and must be reflected through practical actions that positively impact people’s lives.
He explained that during his previous visit to the orphanage, he was deeply touched by the poor and unsafe conditions in which the girls were sleeping, prompting him to take action.
“I may not be able to do everything, but I am proud that I have made a contribution that will help improve the lives of these children,” said Dazik.
Founder of Tiyamika Orphanage, Pastor Christopher Lemos, expressed gratitude to the gospel artist, saying the new hostel will significantly improve living conditions for the girls, who will now have a safe and comfortable place to sleep regardless of weather conditions.
“We are very grateful for this project. May the good Lord bless him,” said Pastor Lemos.
One of the beneficiaries, Mervis Foster, said the girls are happy with the new hostel, noting that they previously struggled to study, especially during the rainy season, due to poor accommodation conditions.
The newly constructed hostel is expected to improve both the safety and learning environment for the girls at the orphanage.
