Chairperson for the committee, Salim Bagus told The Maravi Post on Wednesday after meeting NRB that “It is hard for Malawians to believe the statistics and that there is a need for them to come out with past reports as evidence”

“The allegations are too strong as we are approaching the elections period there is a need for NRB to clear the doubts with evidence”.

On his part, the Principal Secretary for the Ministry of Homelannd Security, Mphatso Sambo, said the bureau will adhere to the committee’s request and will bring the evidence soon.

Sambo said the claims are disturbing news but will relay on media and parliament to help spread what’s on the ground to avoid ID commotion.

Malawians are expected to vote in September 2025 using National Identity cards which are issued by the National Registration Bureau (NRB).

Meanwhile the Bureau has announced the registration of 12.3 million IDs.
