LILONGWE-(MaraviPost)-The country fuel supplier Petroleum importers Limited on Thursday donated assorted prevention health materials to Kamuzu Central Hospital in the capital Lilongwe in a bid to fight against Coronavirus pandemic.
Donated items including 40 buckets and basins, Oxygen
concentrator and masks for medical staff.
PIL Petroleum General Manager, Martin Msimuko says to avoid lasting damage to the country’s economic prospects, the business sector must come in to support the government to avert the possible negative impact on the economy.
Msimuko explained that apart from the increasing deaths, businesses have been hit hard globally as a result of the Covid-19 hence it is imperative that the business industry be forthcoming to facilitate government’s strategies to
scale up preventive measures of its spread in order to protect lives as well
as protecting business interests.
He observed that due to the pandemic affecting numerous people through
illnesses and deaths, there has been a break in production and sales which
can have devastating consequences.
“We need to act swiftly as a business community in concerted effort to
support the government in prevent the spread of Coronavirus if the
country is to avert the impending devastating impact on the country’s
economy” Msimuko pointed out.
He therefore expressed the need for all stakeholders to hold hands to comply with basic hygiene measures, including simply washing hands hence his company’s donation of hygiene kits to the hospital.
The PIL manager He expressed hope that the donation will go a long way in helping KCH to manage the disease efficiently and effectively.
KCH Deputy administrator Mable Chinkhata lauded PIL for the timely donation towards COVID-19 prevention measures.
Chinkhata said the facility is confidence of enough equipment to tackle the corona virus in case of any outbreak.
She therefore assured the nation of employing different mechanism aimed at detecting treating suspected patients.
Malawi has four cases of COVID-19, three in Lilongwe and one Lilongwe.
