LILONGWE-(MaraviPost)-The country’s civil rights Centre for Democracy and Economic Development Initiatives (CDEDI) Executive Director Sylvester Namiwa declares that Reverend Lazarus Chakwera and his Malawi Congress Party (MCP) are threats to democracy.

He therefore vows never to relent in speaking the truth for the voiceless.

Namiwa told journalists outside ACB clinic in the capital Lilongwe upon receiving medical treatment that he will not relent on Chakwera’s threats to Malawi democracy.

He dared Reverend Chakwera that his Tonse Alliance government can not impinge on Malawians freedom to demand what he promised during campaign period.

“This is simply an attempt to silence critical voices but I will not keep quiet. I better die for Malawians than being intimidated by Chakwera and his MCP,” says Namiwa.

Namiwa has however not provided details of what happened for his alleged abduction arguing that he must speak to his lawyers and family first.

Presidential spokesperson Anthony Kasunda is yet to comment.

But earlier on Thursday, Chakwera said was disturbed by Namiwa’s alleged abduction.
