JOHANNESBURG-(MaraviPost)-South Africa has crowned Shudufhadzo Musida Miss SA 2020 in Cape Town on Saturday night of October 24, 2020.
The 24-year-old newest beauty queen from Ha-Masia, Limpopo took over the title from Sasha-Lee Olivier, now former Miss South Africa at the pageant’s glam finale that took place in the Mother City at The Table Bay hotel.
During the contest, the new look swimsuit segment was presented as a swimwear photo shoot on Clifton beach where the finalists frolicked on the sandy beach showing off their summer ready bodies, and sharing their views on healthy body.
The evening wear section was pre-recorded on the incomplete bridge on Cape Town foreshore with the city lights as the backdrop with the contestants thrilling in inventions by the renown fashion designer Lena Lisa.
Musida massively impressed the five judges on the panel including the reigning Miss Universe Zozibini Tunzi who won the South Africa crown last year before she was crowned Miss Universe 2019.
Musida was also the winner of this year’s controversial public vote, whereby people were invited to pay to vote their fave contestant into the top 10.
She walked away with R1m cash and a package of prizes and sponsorships worth over R3m including a luxury Sandton apartment and a Mercedes-Benz.
The newest Miss SA who is also Mzansi’s newest millionaire has a Bachelor of Social Sciences in philosophy, politics and economics, and is currently completing her BA Honours in international relations.
She will compete at Miss Universe 2020 for the 69th Miss Universe pageant and become the successor of Zozibini Tunzi if she wins.
First and second runners-up, Thato Moselle and Natasha Joubert, walked away with R250,000 and R100,000 respectively and they will either vie for the Miss World or Miss Supranational title.
