BLANTYRE-(MaraviPost)-The Sixth AFR100 APM currently underway in Blantyre, Malawi has announced first regional representatives to join Forest Landscape Restoration (FLR) management team.

The new roped reps are Annabella Umuhoza representing (East Africa ), Julien Noel Rakotoarisoa (Southern Africa ); Oghale Ruth Erezih (West Africa) and David Payang (Central Africa). There will also be a representative to be identified for north Africa.

The selection was made during the FLR dedicated country day where experiences, challenges for achieving AFR100 are identified and discussed thoroughly as a way to guide progress in implementation.

The challenges have been categorized as resource mobilisation, land governance and tenure issues and capacity building.

Positives have also been identified in some countries with Cameroon as making strides, but there is need for more gap filling to register sustained gains in the sector.

Malawi is hosting the platform in partnership with African Union Development Agency AUDA-NEPAD, World Resources Institute and GIZ.

The will run from June 27 through 1 July, 2022 in the commercial capital of Blantyre.
