South African man butcher his wife and commit suicide

A 48 year-old man has committed suicide in Kabokweni after strangling his wife to death.

Mpumalanga police spokesperson Leonard Hlathi confirmed this in a statement on Sunday, 3 May 2020.

According to Hlathi, the suspect who also had a pending rape and murder case was found dead in his car near white river after killing his 44 year-old wife.

A report by Daily Sun revealed that the suspect left a suicide note on Sunday explaining why he killed his wife after commiting the crime.

Following the incident, Police have expressed concerns over the growing number of gender base violence cases in the country.

Investigations have been launched following the incident and police have asked citizens to consult professionals that assist in mitigating grievances once they have conflicts with their partners.
