Two children killed by floods in Uganda following heavy down pour

At least two children have died following heavy rains in the western Ugandan district of Rubanda.

The Kigezi regional police spokesperson Elly Maate confirmed this in a statement on Sunday, 3 May, 2020.

A report by Punch news revealed that the two female juveniles were swept away by running water at Karengyere village, Muko Sub County.

According to Police in Muko, the bodies were retrieved pending post-mortem.

Uganda National Meteorological Authority has warned of enhanced rainfall over several parts of the country that could result into disasters such as landslides and foods, leading to loss of lives and destruction of property in the first major rain season.

Meanwhile, several parts of the east African country, especially western and eastern regions, are currently experiencing normal to above normal rainfall, with destructive effects
