South Africa’s Award-winning actor Mncedisi Shabangu dies after short illness

MPUMALANGA-(MaraviPost)-South Africa’s renown actor Mncedisi Shabangu has died on the early hours of Sunday shortly after complaining about chest pains.

Shabangu’s family confirmed the news of the tragedy on Sunday, July 24, 2022 in a statement.

“Dear all, it is with great sadness that the Shabangu family informs you of the sudden passing of Mncedisi Baldwin Shabangu. He passed on in the early hours of this morning.

“The family appreciates all messages of condolence and requests privacy at this difficult time. Memorial and funeral arrangements will be announced soon.” read the statement

The Rhythm City actor best known for playing the role of Khulekani in the eTV soapie was taken to a local clinic after complaining of feeling unwell and he was certified dead upon arrival, TimesLive reported.

Before his demise, Mncedisi was popularly known for his role as Khulekani Ngobese on Rhythm City. He also appeared on The Lab, and iNumber Number among many other shows.

Born in KwaMashy Durban, the award winning actor’s name became a household name after his 2008 appearance as Skhumbuzo in the second season of the SABC3 drama series The Lab but his breakout performance came in 1992’s Gordon Motha’s Secret Agenda.

In 1995, the playwright and theatre director enrolled at The Market Theatre Laboratory as a student in 1995 and his other theater performances include Ways of Dying in 1999, Call us Crazy in 2000, and Orpheus in 1998.
