His Excellency John Dramani Mahama, President of the Republic of Ghana to Give Presidential Keynote Address at 14th Africa Fintech Summit in Accra

ACCRA, Ghana, 16 September 2025/African Media Agency/- The Africa Fintech Summit (AFTS) is honored to announce and welcome His Excellency President John Dramani Mahama as Presidential Keynote Speaker for the 14th edition of the summit, taking place at the Accra International Convention Centre (AICC) in Accra from October 8–10, 2025. His Excellency’s presidential keynote address will take place on the 09th of October 2025.

H.E. President John Dramani Mahama was sworn into the President’s Office on the 7th of January 2025. H.E. was also the fourth President of the Fourth Republic of Ghana, having previously occupied the high office of President between January 7, 2013, and January 6, 2017. A strong proponent of intra-African trade, H.E. President Mahama had a decorated pan-African roles including being the former Chairperson of the Economic Community of West Africa States (ECOWAS) Commission., the former Chairperson of the African Union’s High-Level African Trade Committee, and the first Co-chair of the United Nations Advocacy Group on the Sustainable Development Goals, the current Chair of the TANA Forum, a high-level forum on security in Africa headquartered in Ethiopia. The president also played an instrumental role in laying the foundation for the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA), whose secretariat is now based in Ghana.

2025 Theme – From Africa to The World 

AFTS had a theme of the Africanization of Global Tech in 2023 showcasing how African Fintech startups are expanding globally and resolving global pain points in other markets, followed by a theme of ‘Fintech in Every Industry” in 2024. Africa Fintech Summit Accra 2025 Announces Strategic Partnership with the Ministry of Communication, Digital Technology and Innovations of the Republic of Ghana

This announcement follows some of the bold moves by MOCDTI, including the 1Million Coders, as Ghana is charting a bold and inclusive path toward a digitally empowered future.

As part of the partnership, AFTS will allocate 50% of the Alpha Expo Mini Accelerator & Pitch Competition slots to Ghanaian startups and will closely collaborate with MOCDTI in impacting the Ghanaian digital economy with curated workshops, collaborations and investments towards selected startups to participate in the pitch competition. 3. New and Enhanced Payment Solutions: Flutterwave has remained committed to rolling out solutions that will simplify payments for businesses and individuals in various contexts. The company recently launched Swap in partnership with Wema Bank and Kadavra BDC. Backed by the Central Bank of Nigeria, Swap addresses the challenges individuals and businesses face when they need foreign currency (FX). With the solution, Flutterwave is positioned to redefine the Nigerian FX exchange scene. It’s currently available only in Nigeria and will be rolled out to other African markets later. Flutterwave also rebranded its cross-border remittance solution from $end to Send App to facilitate easier, faster, and more affordable money transfers from people in the diaspora to Africa. The updated solution now allows users in the US and Canada to send money to Africa and access new recipient countries, namely Egypt and Senegal, bringing its coverage to over 34 countries since the launch in 2021.

4. International Recognition: As Africa’s leading payments service provider and most valuable company, Flutterwave has recently gained wider recognition marked by milestones such as the acceptance of Flutterwave CEO Olugbenga ‘GB’ Agboola into the prestigious Wall Street Journal (WSJ) CEO Council. This followed after the inclusion of Flutterwave CFO Oneal Bhambani into the Wall Street Journal’s CFO Network and further cemented the company’s place as a globally recognized institution.
