BLANTYRE-(MaraviPost)-A third year student at the Malawi University of Business and Applied Sciences (MUBAS) in Blantyre Dickson Lester has died in Dedza in circumstances, police say, point to suicide.
Dedza Deputy Police spokesperson, Cassim Manda told Zodiak Online that the 25-year-old seams to have been stressed after being withdrawn from the university.
The late Dickson is said to have gone missing for some days.
Manda says the body of Dickson was later found lying on the edge of Dedza Mountain by women fetching firewood.
BLANTYRE-(MaraviPost)-A form four student at Umbwi Secondary School in Dedza identified as Cosmas Malekano, was on the night of April 11, 2022 brutally murder by unknown thugs who also forced him to consume poisonous substances.
Malekano met his fate at the school’s football ground within the campus as he was on his way for the 1:00 am prep studies.

Dedza Police Station Publicist Edward Kabango confirmed of the tragedy incident with the press.
“On the fateful night, he was beaten by the three unknown people and was later forced to drink poisonous substance,” confirmed Kabango.
The body of late Cosmas was later found lying unconscious within the school campus.
He was then rushed to Dedza District Hospital where he was pronounced dead upon arrival.
Police Investigations are underway to arrest the murder suspects while waiting for postmodern results.
There are now raising cases of robbery in Malawi’s schools including Malawi University of Business and Applied Science (MUBAS) where students are reported of being robbed their property each and every day.
LILONGWE-(MaraviPost)-The Police in Dedza district have arrested a 22-year-old man on allegation that he attempted to rape his 24-year-old sister.
The suspect has been identified as Sitifano Yosefi who hails from from Chimpikizo village, Traditional Authority (T.A) Kamenyagwaza in Dedza District.
A statement signed by Cassim Manda, Dedza police deputy Publicist, it is alleged that, on October 10, 2021, the victim whom police have not mentioned decided to go to bed after she got tired of waiting for her husband who was not at home at that particular time.
As the victim was fast asleep, she felt that someone was caressing her body only to realize it was her brother who insisted felt attracted to her.
Having learnt of that, the victim screamed and before people came to rescue, her brother had managed to run away.
The matter was then reported to local authorities who referred the issue to police where the law enforcers say he will face indecent assault charges.
Malawian man arrested for raping two granddaughters
In Dedza, police have arrested a 90 year-old man for allegedly defiling his two granddaughters aged between 10 and 11.
The suspect who has been identified as Lester Dunken is alleged to have defiled the minors at Kufunda village in the area of Traditional Authority Kachere in the district.
According to Mij FM, Dedza Police deputy publicist Cassim Manda said that on the September 18, 2021, the mother of first victim left home leaving her 10 year-old daughter playing around with her friends.
When she came back she did not see the victim and this made her start searching.
“When the victim heard that her mother was calling outside her grandfather’s house, she pushed him away in the attempt to respond to her. But as she was stepping out of the house, she realized that she forgot her underwear in her grandfather’s bedroom,” said Manda as quoted by Mij FM.
The victim’s mother was surprised to see her daughter coming out of the house with her underwear in her hand.
Upon interviewing her, the young girl then said that she was forced into sex by her grandfather.
The victim also revealed that the elderly man has been defiling her since last year and he had been giving her K100 (one hundred kwacha) all the times.
She further told her mother that the elderly man usually warned her not to reveal the ordeal to anyone.
The mother of the girl then reported the incident to Lobi Police Unit where she was issued with medical report and later the suspect was arrested.
In an interview with police, Lester admitted to have defiled the young girl and her elder sister.
Police made an enquiry on the elder sister of the victim who was also issued with medical report.
The suspect is expected to appear before court soon to answer the charge of defilement contrary to section 138 of penal code.
Malawi Police arrest brothers over gruesome murder of 55-year-old aunt
Police in Dedza are keeping in custody two brothers, Stephani Tebulo, 27 and Yohane Charles, 24 for allegedly conspiring and killing their 55 year old aunt, Chrissy Jeffrey.
Dedza Police Public Relations Officer, Edward Kabango, said the two brothers were staying together with Jeffrey, who was an elder sister to their mother.
He said the two suspects were looking for an opportunity to steal money which she had realised after selling farm produce since Jeffrey was a farmer.
On top of that, she got K85,000 from an organisation that supports Fistula patients since she was a patient.
“On the night of the 20th, the two suspects woke up and went to the room of their aunt armed with Panga knives. They hacked their aunt on the head and managed to get away with undisclosed amount of money. After noting that she was dead, they took the deadbody to Chikuya stream where they dumped her,” he said.
Postmortem results showed that she died due to head injuries.
The two later fled to Domue in Mozambique where they were arrested and are expected to answer a murder charge.
The deceased as well as the suspects come from Sichole Village in the area of Traditional Authority Kachere in Dedza.
DEDZA-(MaraviPost)-A 13-year old boy in the central district of Dedza on Friday drowned after falling into Nankokwe River near Mtakataka Trading Centre.
Cassim Manda, Dedza Police station Spokesperson, identified the deceased as Yamikani Makina, who along with his friends, went to bath when he met his tragic fate.
