Malawi D.C. Diaspora’s 53 independence celebrations star; 15-year old draws patrons’ to tears

Washington DC–Fifteen-year old Zenani Munthali on Saturday drew tears from people that attended this year’s Malawi Washington Association (MEA) panel discussion in the US capital Washington DC.

The soft-spoken, but visibly confident high schooler told Maravi Post during the MWA Family Picnic on Sunday that she’s a proud Malawian.

Born in the US, Zenani said she and her family go to visit Malawi every year and she is always happy to go; she loves Malawi and very proud of her Malawian roots and heritage.

She’s the first born daughter of Mteuka and Florence Munthali, and like her Dad has lived in the USA all her life, but very proud to associate herself with and always tells her friends she is from Malawi.
