BLANTYRE-(MaraviPost)-A Malawian in the 30s is being remanded at Chichiri prison for being suspected of defiling a two-year-old girl later killed thereafter hide the toddler body under culvert.

The suspect identified as Eulard Sacranie committed crime on October 30, 2020 at Luwanda, Traditional Authority (T.A) Machinjiri in Blantyre.

According police report, the deceased baby went missing three weeks ago and the last person to be seen with it was the suspect who is currently remanded at Chichiri Prison.

“What transpired was that three weeks ago the suspect Sacranie took the baby while it was sleeping with it’s mother on the pretext that he wanted to buy her some sweets but never came back.The mother was drunk and fast asleep on the said day.

The next morning when the mother who works as a prostitute at one of “kumabini shabins also known as “kwa Agama” enquired about her baby she was told that Eulard took the baby but he denied.

“The matter was then reported to South Lunzu Police who wasted no time to arrest the suspect. It was while on remand at Chichiri Prison where the suspect revealed that he defiled and strangled the baby to death,” says police report.

He report adds, “The body of the baby has since been recovered and buried close to where it was hidden because it was in a decomposed state. The suspect is likely to be charged with defilement,murder and concealing death”.
