Manchester United prepare to take on Tottenham after dismal league campaign

Manchester United have the chance to salvage something from a historically bad league campaign on Wednesday when they take on Tottenham Hotspur in the Europa League final in Bilbao.

Despite languishing in 16th place in the Premier League table with a mammoth record 17 defeats, the ‘Red Devils’ remain unbeaten in Europe and progressed to the final with a 7-1 aggregate demolition of La Liga outfit of Athletic Bilbao.

That win means Ruben Amorim’s side now have a chance to now secure Champions League football for next season via the back door of winning the Europa League – despite the dismal league campaign.

Defender Harry Maguire, who has once again become an integral part of Ruben Amorim’s system despite an up-and-down few years with the club, says the players will ‘give everything’ in a huge match for the club. “Of course, it’s a big game,” said the defender, speaking ahead of the final. “We know it’s such a big game for everyone, the fans, after such a disappointing season for the club. But we believe in ourselves, we believe that we can beat anybody on our day.”

Meanwhile, Tottenham captain Son Hueng-min spoke of his desire to make history by winning his first major European final with the club when Spurs face Manchester United for the Europa League on Wednesday.

Son, who will be entering the last year of his contract next season, is determined to get his first and only trophy since joining the club in 2015.

Mazraoui calls premier league season “Shitty” ahead of Europa League Final

Manchester United defender Noussair Mazraoui has delivered a candid assessment of the club’s turbulent season, bluntly labelling their Premier League campaign as “shitty” while pinning hopes on a Europa League triumph to salvage pride.

Speaking at the club’s media day ahead of next week’s Europa League final against Tottenham Hotspur in Bilbao, the Moroccan international didn’t hold back.

“Europa League season will be a big success, but the Premier League season will be shitty,” Mazraoui said. “That’s just the reality. Of course, in the end, you might have a trophy, but the Premier League is the main competition — it’s every week, week in, week out, and that’s what people judge you on.”

Mazraoui, who joined United after spells at top European clubs, admitted the losing culture this season has been difficult to digest.

“I come from clubs where I’m not used to losing. I will never get used to losing, wherever I am. So yeah, it’s painful,” he said. “Life is sometimes painful, and you just have to go through it.”

Despite the disappointment, the defender remains upbeat ahead of the high-stakes final, drawing on his World Cup experience with Morocco.

“It’s not my first high-pressure game. I’ve played in a World Cup semi-final,” he said. “This is similar in a way. I love the pressure.”

Manchester United’s domestic woes hit a new low after their 17th league defeat — a 2-0 home loss to West Ham — which left them 16th in the Premier League table. Head coach Ruben Amorim described the season as “embarrassing,” even suggesting it might be the worst team in the club’s history.

United now look to the Europa League final as a last chance at silverware — and Champions League qualification — in what has been a chaotic campaign marked by inconsistency, internal tension, and mounting pressure on players and staff alike.

Jose Mourinho in pain: As Arsenal dashes Tottenham’ League’s top four hopes

Erik Lamela’s ‘rabona’ finish came just 14 minutes after he replaced the injured Son Heung-min

LONDON-(MaraviPost)-Arsenal came from behind to secure a fully deserved north London derby win and inflict damage on Tottenham’s hopes of a place in the Premier League’s top four as Spurs coach Jose Mourinho is in pain.

The Gunners were vastly superior until a Spurs rally in the closing stages but fell behind to a piece of genius from Erik Lamela – on for the injured Son Heung-min – when he curved a magnificent rabona finish beyond Arsenal keeper Bernd Leno in the 33rd minute.

Arsenal, who had seen Emile Smith Rowe’s long-range shot smack against the bar, then suffered more ill-luck when Cedric Soares hit the post, but were level on the stroke of half-time when Martin Odegaard’s effort was deflected out of the reach of Spurs keeper Hugo Lloris.

Mikel Arteta’s side continued to dominate a largely dreadful Spurs and took the lead from the penalty spot after 64 minutes when Alexandre Lacazette missed his kick but was fouled by Davinson Sanchez.

Lacazette recovered to send Lloris the wrong way for his 12th goal of the season.

Spurs’ day got worse when Lamela was sent off for a second yellow card, shown by referee Michael Oliver for a hand-off into the face of Kieran Tierney with 14 minutes left.

But they almost snatched a point in the closing moments when Harry Kane’s free-kick bounced off the post, with Arsenal defender Gabriel heading Sanchez’s goal-bound shot off the line from the rebound.

Arsenal, who dropped captain Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang for the game for disciplinary reasons, stay in 10th place but Spurs are now six points adrift of Chelsea in fourth, although with a game in hand.

English Premier League Upcoming Games

Another season of the English Premier League has started. The first games have already shown that it won’t be a smooth sailing even for the recognized leaders. The main surprise was the successful performance of Watford, who managed to break into the list of favorites.

The start of the season was completely different for some teams; their chances of success were regarded approximately equal. And while Watford managed to prove themselves positively, West Ham crashed and burnt completely, and even the coach of the Hammers Manuel Pellegrini agreed with that. The team was active at the transfer market, however, new players are still struggling to fit into the existing lineup. Moreover, some of them didn’t make it to the starting lineup; this fact arises questions about the reasonability of such transfers.

Free livescore shows that much depend on the individual skill of the players, as well as the coherence of their game. A clear example of this is the game between Manchester United and Tottenham, during which the hosts had many more successful moments, but ruined everything. It led to confident victory of the Spurs with a score of 0:3 and a noticeable increase of rumors about the future of Jose Mourinho in the Red Devils.

Speaking of the premier league fixtures, it’s worth highlighting the confrontation between Chelsea and Liverpool among September games.

Main Game of Month

Both teams look very good at the start. They please the fans with bright and attacking game, as well as good results. Both teams started with several wins in a row and their face-to-face confrontation is a chance for both of them to achieve the leadership. However, we should not forget that Manchester City is right behind them, intending to protect its champion title.

At this stage, the chances of Chelsea and Liverpool are almost the same. The teams are not tired yet, so we can expect that they will do their best to show good results.
