LILONGWE-(MaraviPost)-The Blue Eagles football club gaffer Eliah Kananji said he is optimistic of finding back the winning ways for the team after going nine games winless in all competitions.

The coach said this ahead of their home TNM Superleague match against Mighty Tigers FC on Saturday at Nankhaka Stadium in the Capital Lilongwe.

The Policemen who are 15th on the log table with 17 points from 18 games dearly need a win to move out from the relegation zone.

Kananji said, the preparations have gone well and that all players who were injured such as Paul Master and Gilbert Chirwa have returned and will be ready for selection on Saturday.

“Indeed we are playing Tigers on Saturday, they find us in a wrong time where we are struggling to get results. We will try to rectify the problems so that we come out victors”,

After a 0-1 home defeat to Moyale Barracks FC last weekend Kananji called for the Malawi Police Service high commanding officers to meet the players to share with them the reason why they are not winning despite creating chances and playing well in several games.

“I am happy that the top management held the meeting with the players and I believe this will play a great role in helping the team gaining back the winning formula. The jinx will be broken this coming weekend “,Kananji said.

The 2022 TNM Superleague runners up have so far played 18 games, winning 2,drew 8 and lost 7.

In the first round the duel shared spoils 0-0 in Blantyre on 29th July 2023.

Since 2014 the two teams have met 18 times with Blue Eagles FC dominating the winning games 8 while Mighty Tigers FC won 6 and 3 games ended in a draw with 31 goals scored.
