MZUZU-(MaraviPost)-UTM Member of Parliament (MP) for Karonga Nyungwe constituency, Kenneth Ndovie is at risk of losing his seat if found guilty of abusing Constituency Development Fund (CDF) by the court of law this publication has learnt.
It is suspected that Ndovie failed to follow CDF public procurement guidelines in some projects a thing which has attracted Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB).
For instance, Ndovie is suspected of defiling the public procurement guidelines by hand-picking contractors of his choice.
One of the suspected hot example is the way the borehole drilling contactor named Happy Mhango Construction won the K15 million tender without bid.
PPDA spokesperson, Ketie Kujaliwa confirmed to this publication that CDF is under PPDA Act as it is public fund.
“All PPDA procedures are supposed to be followed when dealing with CDF,” she said.
ACB according to our source will have Ndovie into its custody anytime from now to question him over the same.
Area Development Committee (ADC) of the area, Gift Mwafurilwa said the borehole drilling contactor of Mhango Construction was brought to the committee by the MP himself.
Effort to talk with Ndovie proved futile as his mobile phone was out of reach.
But political analysts who talked to this publication said according to the law, Ndovie will lose his seat if found quilt by the court of law.
“Automatically, this will call for the by-election in the constituency especially if he has been found quilt by the court of law,” they said.
Ndovie who is also the former deputy minister of trade join politics on an independent ticket and later joined the former ruling, Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) before going to UTM
