Weird! Kenyan man kills son, himself after tussling with wife

NAIROBI-(MaraviPost)-A middle-aged man from Naivasha, Nakuru County on Tuesday, October 20, strangled his three-year-old son to death before killing himself.

The man, identified as Daniel Kyallo, is said to have committed the heinous act after quarreling with his wife of over five years.

According to area Assistant Chief Simon Koskei, the deceased had recently separated from his estranged wife following frequent marital quarrels.

The administrator added that Kyallo was undergoing difficult times prior to the incident something that might have led him to kill son and self.

“Those close to him said he appeared disturbed after the wife left their matrimonial home a week ago,” said Mr Koskei.

The Assistant Chief stated that the victim first killed his son by strangling him with his hands and then used a wooden ladder to lower the body into a pit latrine that was still under construction.

He then tied a rope on the same ladder and hanged himself.”He strangled his son and then used the ladder to dump his body in the pit latrine before using the same ladder to hang himself,” the chief added.

The police took their bodies to Naivasha sub-county hospital mortuary.

Cases of domestic violence have been on the rise in Kenya since the Covid-19 pandemic hit the country with some turning fatal.

In January, a man, Mwanza Kaloki, was under the Machakos police radar for allegedly hacking his mother and niece to death after quarreling over a meal of eggs and Ugali.

In an earlier address, Health Chief Administration Secretary, Mercy Mwangagi, warned domestic violence perpetrators that the state was turning its gaze on them.

“We want to remind everyone that the law has not been suspended and that it will catch up with those who mete violence on others during this period,” Mwangangi warned.Health CAS Mercy Mwangangi during a press briefing outside Afya House, April 2020.
