731 banks, 140 Govt sites torched in Iran

TEHRAN-(MaraviPost)-About 731 banks and 140 government sites have been set ablaze in Iran following the fracas that arose in Tehran, Iran as a result of increased fuel prices.

Iran’s top leader has described the fracas as “very dangerous conspiracy” which has resulted into over 50 bases used by security forces being disturbed and at least 70 gas stations set on fire in the area. The protests arose as a result of gasoline price hikes but quickly turned political when protesters started demanding top leaders step down.

Government has however associated the unrests to exiles and the United States, Israel and Saudi Arabia who are believed to stirring up the disturbances.

As having quoted by Reuters, Supreme Leader of Iran Ali Khamenei said: “A deep, vast and very dangerous conspiracy that a lot of money had been spent on … was destroyed by the people”.

Khamenei added that the protests amounted to a plot that Iranians had defeated, referring to the worst anti-government unrest in Iran since authorities put down demonstrations against election fraud in 2009
