In a press conference in Lilongwe today Lazarus Chakwere said the Joyce Banda government was childish and the Mutharika government unethical.
This was in reaction to the 80% raise He and the President gave themselves and are now retreating after a big public out cry. At the same press conference he attacked Gertrude Mutharika on BEAM and its funding. Looks like the Reverend was out to prove his clean hands.
There are also unconfirmed reports that the Reverend was giving cash allowances to reporters that were invited to his tirade of accusations and name calling. If this is true Malawi reporters who clearly have depended on this cash in their zeal to embarrass Mutharika might have been ‘cutting off their nose to spite their face’
This is the same Chakwera who when the elections results clearly started to trend away from him was cozing up to PP’s leader Joyce Banda to find any means necessary to be declared the winner. Now he is turning against her and calling her rule childish.
