Malawian youthful author, Frank Chibowa, whose book titled Mother Malawi, was supposed to be out by now has been left disappointed as his deal with the Montfort publishers has gone disagreeable, MaraviPost has learnt.
According to Chibowa, the deal to publish a book with Montfort started in October 2014 and everything was progressing very well.
“We agreed that the book will be out by early January in 2015 and they promised me that the book will greatly sell due to its relevancy as it has got a pregnant of Malawian leaders and freedom fighters information that Malawians have been and are looking for,” narrated Chibowa in a statement made available to MaraviPost.
“I included all the information they wanted me to incorporate several times since last year until last week when printing was the only remaining task which was supposed to start any day this week,” the seemingly depressed Chibowa disclosed.
At the eleventh hour of everything the author said, he was surprised to receive a message that Montfort is no longer interested in publishing his “Mother Malawi” book with no precise convincing and persuasive reasons given.
‘’Trying to call the circulation manager of Montfort who I always communicate with through calls and emails, all he is doing is not taking his calls.
“My fear is that since they have got the final soft copy of my book, I just feel like they can easily publish my work as their own because they praised my work and talent very much and they already have many big markets inside and outside Malawi,” lamented Chibowa while disclosing that he will look for other alternatives to have his book published.
Efforts to talk to Montfort press Manager proved futile as his phone went unanswered. This news comes as a disturbing development in a country where there is no reading culture and there few authors who have had their work published.
