Malawians want Chakwera to deliver not lip services

BLANTYRE-(MaraviPost)-Malawians on social media have taken on swipe at President Lazarus Chakwera’s planed State of Nation Adress barely a day after he arrived from a two week trip in Qatar.

Chakwera remained abroad despite reports Cyclone Freddy hitting the country since Saturday.

The President was in Qatar for UN Least Developing countries conference that ended on March 9, 2023.

But Chakwera went straight to South Africa for yet to be verified bilateral meetings.

According to communication from state House, the President will hold national address from 6pm at Sanjika Palace in Blantyre, Wednesday, March 15, 2023.

Chakwera address also comes barely three years after he promised enactment of Disaster Risk Management bill (DRM) which tackles serious issues on financing, relocation of people from prone disaster areas and among others.

This has prompted Malawians on social media questioning Chakwera’s wisdon of keeping on holding nation addresses with zero action on the ground.

“We want action on the ground. Enough of unfruitful speeches,” dares Godfrey Nthenda.

Frank Mulima queries, “On what issues is he going to address Malawians?

“Lets support our President in thus difficult times and let’s put politics aside”, Stvie Kalepa shares different view.

Banda Mwalijah Stanley chips in, “We need action not words”.

Cyclone Freddy has claimed more than 200 lives while displacing over 10,000 households.
