LILONGWE (Maravipost) National Advocacy Platform (NAP) says it anticipates that President Lazarus will not hide from the public findings of the investigation into the circumstances surrounding the plane crash that has killed Vice President Saulos Chilima and eight others once presented to him.
Speaking to journalists at Parliament building after paying their last respect to the body of late Chilima, the leadership of NAP said the tragic incident has affected every Malawian and the hovering questions about the incident ought to be answered.
NAP’s Chairperson Benendicto Kondowe said: “There are so many unanswered questions, so the report of the investigation should be made public so that Malawians can have at least a closure.
“We understand by law, the Malawi Defence Force (MDF) is expected to submit its findings to the head of state, and we hope the President will make public the same.”
The consortium has also appealed to the general public to uphold peace throughout the mourning period.

Robert Mkwezalamba who is also part of the grouping said Malawians should avoid any acts of politically engineered violence.
“Chilima was a peace-loving leader. Let us mourn him with his dignity and peace because this is what he would have loved if he were here today.
NAP has also applauded government for declaring a public holiday on Monday next week saying this will provide Malawians an opportunity to travel to Nsipe in Ntcheu where the fallen leader is going to rest.
